Default WW1 Worcestershire Regiment aluminium dog tag help needed

Good afternoon

I'm trying to find out anything about the individual on this disc. I've tried a variety of sites but to no avail. I know that some records were destroyed in ww2. Any suggestions or information welcome.

Many thanks

Martyn

It is an early Great War pattern identity disc.

Many thanks. They were uncomfortable to wear apparently, especially in hot climates. This is my local regiment and I'm really interested in finding out about him if it is possible. The number is very low I think so he may have signed up in 1914/15?

Much earlier than 1914, he was a pre war regular and a member of the elite band of Old Contemptibles.

Many, many thanks that's really brilliant information. I found this on Saturday in a local shop. Glad that he survived the war although he was wounded. It's fascinating to think that this disc had been worn by him whilst serving overseas and whilst he was wounded. Be interesting to know where he was wounded. Supposedly in France.

He served 3rd and 4th Bn Worcestershire Regiment-both were Regular Battalions and both had distinguished service on the Western Front(3rd and 4th Bn) and at Gallipoli(4th Bn only). He first went overseas with the 3rd Bn.

regards

Mark

Wow that's interesting and a good bit of research thank you. Is there a possibility of finding where he was wounded?

Is it possible to trace when he served in each battalion? This disc had really grabbed my interest.

Many thanks

Sadly, without his service papers the answer is no.
