Default RSDG Badge with 'GREYS' Eagle!?

Hello

Could anyone shed some light on this RSDG Cap Badge which sports a RSG's Eagle (looks PRI quality).
I can find no official record of this anywhere, nor have I ever seen it in wear, so I'm thinking its spurious?

Any comments or observations welcome.
Thank you.

Rob

If you haven't tracked it down as a "normal" badge, any chance that its band related?

Comment added: I am sure I have seen a picture of this somewhere.

It may not be a cap badge but I assume you must have seen the badge on the Piper Majors cantle to this regiment in Hodges book?? Strangely, it looks uncannily like the one you have shown....

Hi Rob
I bought one years ago.It was one of many in a box of repro's at an arms fair for £3 each.It was only when I got home I realised it was the eagle of the R.S.Greys not the correct R.S.D.G eagle.I soon got rid of it when I later got a correct one.
