Default Band of the Dragoon Guards badge

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if such a band exists? I saw a badge to the Band of the Dragoon Guards but have never heard of them. I'm only aware of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards band.

I'll post a picture when I find it.

Mick

The majority of the regimental bands (Such as Royal Scots Dragoon Guards ) have been disbanded. The Band of The Dragoon Guards was formed in 1994 when the bands of 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and The Royal Dragoon Guards were amalgamated.

It subsequently amalgamated with the Cambrai band of the Royal Armoured Corps on the 1st June 2006 to form The Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band.

Robin Hodges book shows the insignia of the Band of the Dragoon Guards.

The bands have been decimated by cost cutting in the past 20 years.

Thanks John!

I'll also have to find a copy of that book. Does it also show the badge of The Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band? For that matter, would anyone happen to have a spare Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band badge by any chance?

Mick

Hodges book was published prior to the last amalgamation and I am afraid that I do not know what insignia they wear.

Last summer one of the Yorkshire Regiment battalions were excercising their freedom rights in Hull and Beverley on return from duty in ME, and were accompanied by The Heavy Cav and Cambrai Band. I was intrigued however by their No1 Dress: tank arm badge, chains, No1 black/dark blue cap bearing the RAC badge - which may have been a touch larger than what we are used to.

I did find their emblem here:

Not sure if it has been made into a badge though.

Here you go Mick,a picture of the cap badge. It appears to be gilt with blue and silver enamel, similar to the Queens Division band badge.Probaly quite rare as the Band didnt exist for that long.
