Small Chindits Badge

I would welcome thoughts on the two badges shown, the latter much smaller than the standard one on the left. Clearly old and with signs of being worn, is it just a smaller version or was it produced for something else? It looks a little small and poorly worked to be a blazer badge for example.

Suggestions please.

Not wishing to mislead - but could it be unofficial one off type device for bush hat flap?
I wasn't going to even suggest this as it may be miles off ... but after two days and no comment ...

Brig The Lord Ballantrae (aka Bernard Fergusson) writing to Ken Rhodes on 14 Dec 78 stated, apropos of the 3 Indian Div/Special Force/Chindits sign - " Many of us thought the Badge was too big and blatant, and rather vulgar and too reminiscent of the flashness of the Badge (sic) worn by American units." Perhaps the scaled down sign you illustrated was commissioned by a Chindit who subscribed to the Brigadier's view? In his letter he stressed that "we did not wear the Chindit badge behind the lines".
