During WW2, did Engineer or Artillery sergeants ever wear a flaming bomb above their stripes?

Artillery sergeants definite no, they wore a gun. Engineer sergeants, yes. To the best of my knowledge such wear was unofficial after 1942 but wear them they did.

I'm referring to Australian use only, British and other Commonwealth armies were much different.

As has been said, it was common practice for RE SNCO's to use the GM small grenade (normally used in Fusilier Shoulder titles and others collars) as part of their rank badge particuarly in KD.

The very commonly found cloth RE grenades are what some "less informed" dealers call WW1 Bombing Instructors and ask 3 figures for instead of a couple of quid!!.

That would make sense of a WW2 shirt I have. It's got Sgt stripes with two small holes above which seem to fit one of the 'fusilier' style flaming bombs mentioned in the other posts. My thanks to all.
