Default Some RAC Band Badges

These are some of my favourite badges - various badges worn by RAC bands.

Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band
Light Cavalry Band
Band of the Dragoon Guards
Band of The Hussars and Light Dragoons
The Royal Yeomanry Band (Inns of Court & City Yeomanry)

Always looking for other badges I don't have in this picture.

Enjoy!

Mick

Default RAC Bands Badges

Hi Mick,

Just a little point regarding your badges. I was a long serving member of the Royal Yeomanry (15 years) and we did not wear the IC&CY shoulder titles. When I joined in 1973 we wore the RYR anodised title and this was later changed to Royal Yeomanry. It was the Cadre of the Inns of Court & City Yeomanry and 68 Signal Squadron who wore the IC&CY title. I hope this is of some interest. Regards, Jimbo

Default RAC Band Badges

Mick,

Apologies, I should have said I was a member of the Royal Yeomanry Band. The Royal Yeomanry was made up of several Squadrons who wore their own badges except the title which was RYR and later Royal Yeomanry.

Regards,

Jimbo

Here's a good picture of a Royal Yeomanry band member in full dress uniform.

Thanks mate.

Was this version worn by the RAC Band? I've only got a COMUS badge there as that is what the RAC Band now wear.

Hi Mick,

Take a look at the scroll and compare it to yours. You may see that mine is different to yours as my badge's scroll starts with the word 'THE'. Most start with 'CORPS'. The former is the earlier, first version of the badge which was change by the Army Dress Committee in 2001 to the non 'THE' item...

I effect, there are two official versions of this badge but both have the same NSN and pattern No.

I saw my badge on eBay and could not put my finger on why I thought it was different. Had to go back a few days later to work it out.

Regards,

Chris

Thanks mate. I'm really only after the version the RAC band wears at present.
