Zulu Rebellion ribbon?
I wonder if any of our medals/ribbons collectors can confirm this medal ribbon.
I have always believed it to be to the Natal Native Rebellion aka Zulu Rebellion, of 1906 medal. . However, whereas the official medal ribbon should be unwatered and 32mm wide, my ribbon is watered and 38mm. It came many years ago and among Victorian and turn of century ribbons from a defunct military tailor. Appreciate any assistance in idenrifying GTB |

All I've got to offer without the books is that ribbon in those colours was used on a variety of medals & awards eg Military general Service Medal, Waterloo Medal, Hanoverian Waterloo Medal, Army Gold Medal ......... so perhaps an officer quality ribbon for one or some of the medals of the late 18th - early 19th century.
Edit - I'm taking the ribbon to be red & blue (not red & black)? Last edited by leigh kitchen; 20-09-17 at 11:13 AM. |

Thanks for your effort, leigh kitchen. Unfortunately, scans leave a lot to be desired and the image is nothing like the real thing. which is a quality ribbon. Colours are red and black - actually the watered red is more a sort of magenta.
I acted on a hunch and managed to confirm what it is. It is a badge (cross) ribbon of the Imperial Russian Order of St Vladimir. GTB |
