Default Possible Volunteer Buttons?

Hi all...

Sorting through a lot of buttons found in the Plymouth area detecting and picked out these two for id if possible? Wondering if they're possibly volunteer buttons due to the V within shield on them? Any help appreciated and as ever these will be sold at some point.

Thanks,

Phil

Hello Phil

They could be volunteer units but they could, I suspect, equally well be livery style buttons with the 'V' being the name of the household 'Vernon', or whatever.

There are so many of these previously unrecorded buttons being found by detectorists that trying to identify them will be a never ending task. At least we are learning all the time and another little bit of history has been saved!

Regards
Roger
