Your thoughts on SAS wing
Hi Team
I have had this SAS wing as a 50s/60s era issued and worn ,however I came across the same wing in BODD pg 659 #3097 "...5000 as order placed August 1944....." The only differance,I can see is the one in BODD has a straight edge and my one has a hoop/moth wing appearance however the embroidery looks the same. My question is could the one I have been a late 44 pattern but reused in the 50s or was it produced 1950s and won in the 50s-60s? cheers Phill |

I believe it is as you thought post war, with the moth wing shape.

Thanks Jerry
Hope you are doing fine mate. Yeah but the image in BODD is so close, if I nip the top off it would be the WWII variant. Ironically I have used BODD for everything else except looking at SAS cloth and was searching out 27th Armd Bde to see if there was a printed variant 27th, when I came across the image. Would love to show BODD but that might cause an issue(?) cheers mate Phill |

Phil, I am ok, thanks for asking.
Here are my dated early post war wings, two types, 1948-1956 I do agree though that 3097 in bobd does look as nearly the same as both yours and my lower badge

Thanks for the images Jerry
I guess I was thinking out loud with that style of wing in BODD and 5000 being made could have been used post war. cheers guys Phill |
