Charlottetown
I am currently in the process of tidying up my collections, trying to i.d. items and place in their proper context.
Several years ago I obtained a small package of items from the visiting RCN frigate "Charlottetown". However, I didn't go into the details of inventorying. Now I see that it's not all that simple. I have a couple of queries: evidently the rhomboid patch belongs to an air-wing unit applicable to the warship in question, but what would it's designation be? Secondly, the Fire Dept patch: Is there a 'twinning' agreement between the ship and the town/city FD? Would it be at all worn by crew members? Thanks in advance for all and any assistance PS I trust this query falls under the correct thread forum? GTB Last edited by GTB; 29-11-13 at 08:46 AM. |

Hi GTB,
The bottom crest is the Ship's badge for HMCS Charlottetown, I think they wear it on their shipboard working dress now, but not 100% on that as I am not up to date on what our RCN is currently wearing. Regret cannot assist on the other two, but I expect your theory of the ship being twinned with the Charlottetown FD may be accurate. No idea on the 6 sided badge or if either might be worn. B |

As Bryan says, the HMCS Charlottetown badge is worn on the Naval Combat Dress.

Info re Charlottetown
There is definitely a link between the City of Charlottetown and the badge design for HMCS Charlottetown. I was working for the City at the time of commissioning and was partly involved with the badge prototype from the City perspective. PM me if you would like to discuss further.
