Default fleet air arm badge

Just thought I'd better include a little more information about the badge for your friend.

This is a Queen's Crown (post-1953) Fleet Air Arm pilot's badge. Worn on the left cuff just above the stripes which denote the wearer's rank.

Hi.
Looks like the wings are attached to a black arm band. Is that correct?

Is so, wings attached to a black arm band are used at the wings ceremony for easy of "pinning" onto the serviceman to which they are awarded. Then removed and handed back prior to the issued set being permanently sewn on.

Very nice set
Gareth
