Michael,
Northumberland Const. began wearing helmets in the 1870's and the badge under discussion was worn. However, they discarded that badge circa. 1885 and in its place adopted a star pattern with a QVC on top. This was worn until the death of the Queen in 1902 when the same badge but with a King's Crown atop was adopted. Hope this is helpful. Dave. |

Hello Dave,
I am a member of The Bytown Militaria Collectors' Association. (B.M.C.A.) Bytown being the previous name for Ottawa. At our December meeting (about 12 members present, 3 are members of The British Badge Forum.) At the show and tell session I did a presentation re the Northumberland Constabulary HP badge story, and mentioned all the help and information supplied by you. All thought it was a wonderful story re a mystery badge finally being solved. So Dave again, Thank You. Kind Regards, Michael Last edited by Michael Griffiths; 08-12-17 at 04:31 AM. Reason: Typo |
