Default Chindit Flash

Hello,

Amongst my grandfathers' memorabilia there are a number of scrap books and photograph albums.
I have attached two photographs taken from one of the scrap books in the hope that this may be of interest to somebody on this forum.
It would be interesting to me if anybody could shed some light on his comments re the Chindit Flash.

Many thanks.

Godfrey

Godfrey,

Your Grandfather Ralph Chalkley OBE, GM, was quite a famous man and indeed a Chindit.

Lovely mementos.

regards

I was very interested in the caption to the Chindit sign mounted in the album: "Chindit flash worn be me in Burma. I made the original drawing for approval by General Wingate.". This is the first time I've seen a name attached to the design. Mike

Hi,

Many thanks for your comments and the interesting links. As well as trying to find out more information re my grandfathers' comments on the Chindit flash, i am also creating a medals and memorabilia display. Unfortunately I am really struggling to locate the final cap badge which is the RND Hawke Battalion one worn by him as an eighteen year old in Gallipoli.
If anybody has any suggestions about where i could locate one that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Godfrey
