Default Unusal Gloucestershire Regt

I've never seen one of these before ( although I admit it's not my field ) - a bi metal Gloucestershire Regt badge. It "feels" right , well made and clearly some age - I like the tapered slider with the number 2401 stamped on it. But is it rare or just a fantasy badge?

Fantasy in my opinion. The tapered slider is one I would avoid even on a w/m badge.

Good heavens, no, it appears to be brand new and completely spurious, get a refund!

Red face

I couldn't get it out of my head why someone would go to the trouble of making a bi metal badge unless to deliberately deceive and make a lot of money ( they didn't ) - and the skill set needed to make just one ? The badge was a bit dirty so I decided to give it a clean - and only then realised that the "bi metal" parts had largely disappeared !

It appears that the tablet and scroll had been painted on (not such a skill set then - albeit done very well). So the good news is that there is not going to be rash of dodgy Gloucester badges hitting the market - the badge news is I need to go to Specsavers!

I don't think that Gloster's badge is bimetal, its coated with some gold coloured stuff to make it look aged I think.
There's a South Wales Borderers Badge with similar "aged" appearance, slider and slider markings on ebay at the moment, could be the beginning of a rash of these similar items to different regiments.
Its paired up with one of those replica versions that were sold by sets by whoever it was:
