Default Thank you for the add. Looking for some help.

Hi.

My Dad fought in India and Burma during WW2. Sadly he passed away in 2006.

I have been looking through his collection of patches, and have identified all but one. It is a white horse head on a black background.

I know he was seconded to the Royal Corp of Signals at one point, and carried out cypher work, so wondered if it had anything to do with that.

If anyone can offer any help, it will be greatly appreciated. horse.jpg

Possibly Eastern India Command. Which was also worn by 21st Indian Corps.

Default Thanks Irishhorse

Yeah, looks like it is the 21st Indian, although the only badges I can see online are in Wikipedia and eBay, but nothing in any official sites.

I wonder if the badge is rare because they were disbanded in 1943, after only being formed in 1942, and was only re-formed in 1990.

Anyway, many thanks for that.

Is the difference between Eastern Command and 21st Corps the prominence of the manes? According to Cole: 'The design of the Eastern Command badge stressed the horse's mane, thereby connecting the badge with the name of the formation commander, General Sir Mosley Mayne, K.C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O.'

Rgds, Thomas
