Default The 93rd of just a random 93?

I have this in my unknown folder. The more I look at it the more dubious I become. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

33 x 30 mm.

Apologies. I know I've posted this message in the wrong forum. I tried to delete it last night but was unable to do so.

Photo added - A strange little object I've been curious about for some time. Probably nothing but any help much appreciated.

Hello Tony,

Interesting item; I am going straight for the obvious and wondering if it is in any way connected to the 93rd (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment of Foot? Is the reverse blank/unmarked?

Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable members will be able to throw some light on this for you.

Thanks for posting it.

Peter.

The hole in the top suggests a tally number - perhaps with a mining background ? I suggest that the 'tally' is intended to hang on a hook of some description and to be readily removed and replaced. Whatever it is, it is early. Just a thought. David

Thank you all for your help. I thought I'd be disappointed if it wasn't military but I'm not at all. A mining tally is a fascinating object and a lovely find. We've had it for many years and never knew what it was. Very satisfying to have the mystery solved.
