Default The Life Guards (1st & 2nd).

I've always been suspicious of this little badge in my collection.
The lugs bear plier marks so it appears that they've been deliberately narrowed rather than made that shape.
And now Iv'e just noticed that the lugs have feet.......

Cool The Life Guards (1st & 2nd).

Leigh, with all Household Cavalry KC badges the "V" should always hang clear, only touching with the tops of the "V" the "G & R",

This badge has been faked to death by the unscrupulous and is IMO one of the easier fakes to spot.

I hope this helps.

Rob

yes, very thin metal and a toning on the reverse that I don't like, a hint of purple to it. I hadn't had a proper look at it until now and so had'nt noticed the feet on the lugs although I was aware of the "V" issue.
Id always assumed it a fake but at the time I bought it I wasn't quite sure.

You are are unlikely to see let alone hold one of these badges and the chances of obtaining one is as good as 0% for a real one.

Yep, it was a purchase with some other badges years ago. A case of optimism triumphing over experience and common sense - again.
