Many thanks. The "broken spur" was perpetuated in WW2 by 74 (Surrey and Sussex Yeo) Med Regt RA.

This may help. Have attached examples of the ones I have plus two photos of the 1 SA Inf Div flash being worn. There is a smaller version. I can post photos of the reverse of the patches if needed.
