Default Current Canadian Regiments?

Three questions for our Canadian colleagues.

I notice that a number of the old Canadian Regiments are represented with Cadet units. One gains the impression that some of these Cadet units are the sole wearer of the Regimental badge, ie there is no Regular or Reserve unit just the Cadet unit carrying on the traditions of the old Regiment.

First question: Is this impression correct?

Second Question: What are the current regular Regiments (infantry and Armour) in the Canadian Army?

Third question: What are the current Reserve Regiments (ie part time units) (Infantry and Armour) in the Canadian Army?

Regards
Chris

Nice summary Colin. Wikipedia is coming along.
One question, since when was the Royal Newfoundland Regiment a three battalion reserve unit?

I knew there was 2 Bn's but never heard of the other, would it be in Labrador? There are two good size town' or cities there now. I was speaking to a Missionary priest a couple of months ago & he was telling me that Happy Valley & Goose Bay ( the US air base that was) are one & the same now. When I worked there in 54-57 it was 1/2 hr drive to Happy Valley.
Maybe the population now merits a 3rd Bn.

Gotta love wiki. Someone has posted the R NFLD R as three battalions, but there are only two battalions. I didn't think I had missed something as significant as a new battalion being added to the order of battle.
Newfoundland has 5 reserve units, 2 Battalions of the R NFLD R, 56 Engineer Sqn, 36 Svc Bn, 728 Comm Sqn.

Mike, Did you change the unit description? This morning it read light infantry, now it reads dismounted infantry.
What is the technical definition of the two types of infantry?

To put it simply, there's a certain flair associated with the description "light infantry" these days when applied to a unit's role. It implies training in methods of battlefield delivery other than APC/IFC while retaining all of the tools and support of Regular Force units. I noted that some of the Reserve units in the Wikipedia list were noted as "light infantry" while others were annotated "dismounted infantry." There's not sufficient differences in the roles of our Reserve infantry units to distinguish between the two labels, and to maintain a distinction from the Regular Force light infantry battalions supports the use of "dismounted infantry" for all of the Reserve units is appropriate.

(I will add the note that although the Queen's Own Rifles have an airborne "task", which really only means they get a large proportion of reserve infantry slots on parachute courses and a different coloured hat, the unit role/capability isn't different from the other Reserve infantry units. It should also be noted that Land Force Central Area HQ has recently considered stripping that role from the QOR in order to distribute that desirable training opportunity more widely.)
