Default Mechanised Transport Corps.

I bought this photograph today. The unknown lady is a member of the Mechanised Transport Corps. Her shoulder title is difficult to make out but may read: A.A.G.B. If so it will match her sleeve badge which states American Ambulance Great Britain.

Nice to see the Fleur de Lys buttons with MTC above attributed to the correct unt, rather than to the Manchester Regiment as they nearly always are by sellers.

Nice picture.

regards

A minor point, but her collar badge looks like it bears "MTTC" rather than just "MTC". Either way a great photo.

Nice picture.

Her shoulder title would have been M.T.C. or if she was a long serving member M.T.T.C. The AAGB's only badge was the circular one shown.

Anyone interested in the MTC might like a copy of my book. Now available from me for £10 inc postage. PM me if interested.

I was going to ask a stupid question of what the nationality of the Lady would be (US/British) but luckily found my answer here

Thought members might enjoy another MTC photo.

This one shows Miss Ursula Lloyd-Bennett a Corps member who served with the Chateau de Blois Ambulance Corps in France in 1940. The unit's badge is above her pocket. She was awarded a French Croix de Guerre for service with the unit.

Hello all

Just as an add-on to this post, my copy of Jon's book mentioned above arrived today and very good it is too. Heartily recommended for anyone with an interest in the Home Front generally and the MTTC/MTC in particular. Also with useful information on associated units and so on. Very well illustrated too.

Nice one Jon!

Regards
Roger

Having read half way through Postwarden's great book I found some M.T.C. etc items on the web, They are ALL REPRO but as I am unlikely to find any of the originals these will fill a space until then.
There is a M.T.T.C. & M.T.C. shoulder title amd various other arm badges. Also there is a Ministry of Supply Nursing service title and breast badge.

Do you have any plans to sell this photo, as I would be greatly interested? Thank you for sharing!
