Hasting and Prince Edward Regiment titles
Some titles of the Hasty Pees, one printed on canvas, the others embroidered on cloth. I guess that the one with serifed lettering in a darker hue of yellow are WWII, whereas the two lower ones are post war?

The first is a beauty the last two seems to be british made by the embroidery & poor workmanship which you see a lot of in the british versions. Back 30 years ago the British type were all classed as reproductions by collectors but now they seem to be accepted as possibles. One of the nicest(and well made) titles in my collection is a title for the Ontario Regt on felt(not melton) well worn also one for the Three rivers Regt. So they weren't all sloppy work. Ray

Good point Ray. The workmanship of titles is important. Though some poor quality titles did make it to the shoulder, most were not accepted.

Hasty P
A couple more titles.....not sure of the period of the last one. Suspect post war...but if so late 40's. Any thoughts?

loupie1961, some points on the titles from your post. The first title looks to be a good example of one of the patterns that has been identified as WW2 era. The second title is a concern. The glued on backing is not a good sign. If you can peel back a bit of the backing look for a sort of loose fluff backing. If so, it is post war. The third title is a 1960's pattern.
Dwayne, again, a nice selection of titles. I have been told that the one third down in your image was one of the first pattern if not the first embroidered pattern used by the Hasty Pees. That last one appears to be a cut down post war title. |
