King's OSD cap badge
This beautiful specimen of a "THE KING'S" officer's Service Dress cap badge is a bit shinier than normal OSD bz, which can have a multitudes of shades. Almost as if the natural bronze left untreated. However, the back is a different matter as the OSD is matt. It is die-cast with 2 blades N&S.

Nice badge. Thanks for posting.
Given the shape/design, is the N/S placement of the blades more common than E/W for KLR OSDs? The manufacturer of this Blackheath and Woolwich OSD, wasn't going to take any chances, by the look of it! Regards to all, JT |

Interesting question ! Yes, probably based on size and shape of badge - but don't take it for granted !!!!
I have 15 (Patt 1896) 1902-26 King's OSDS 11 have NS blades (including 5 Firmin types, 3 Gaunt types and 2 J&Co) However one has had its blades replaced by loops, one is a 'converted OR BM badge with new blades.; Of the 4 EW ones three are Firmin types and one J&Co derivative. Just to complete the brief survey,I have eight S&G badges (Patt 1896) 4 have NS loops, 1 EW, 1 (G) "tongue & Loop" interestingly J&Co has one with three loops and one with three blades ! I'll have a look at the 1926 Patt officer's badges later but I know there are many more with loops Where was your B & W badge Jelly ???? Last edited by KLR; 05-03-18 at 08:06 PM. Reason: B & W |

There is sometimes an error when people use the "insert image" icon to add a picture to their posting rather than the "attachments" tool. This is often leads (for some reason) to postings without images appearing to some users.
