I'm from a small town in East Central Saskatchewan Canada... not many badge collectors in this end of the world so that's why I appreciate the Forum so much...also why there aren't many South African badges kicking around.... Jim

This is quite interesting, this RSM must have been one of the first ILH as he has Victorian medals and he served for 60 years.
I can see 10 medals.
The badge is also in the helmet not the pagri, a point of huge debate in the British section.

Hi Jim, I have known some great people from Macoun, which being only a three hour drive away is of course on your doorstep. Good to know you are on the forum.

Best wishes,

john

Andrew,

It doesn't say when the picture was taken, only that during the ILH's diamond Jubilee banquet in 1959 he was given a standing ovation for his 60 years service so it could have been taken then.
Incidentally there is a group photo of "A" Squadron ILH at Potch during the Boer war; perhaps your great Grandfather is in that pic.

regards,

Iain

Hi Dave,

hope you are well, not heard from you for a while.
Not a bad collection for a Lancashire Lad!
I dont have any cloth titles but what is the cloth badge?

Maybe I'll post mine, I have a few more Cap & collar variations but dont yet have them mounted. On foot you understand!

I would like the Pipers badges, I see Alex Rice does have in the Piper badge project.

Regards,

Iain

Iain

Cloth badge is a blazer badge.Somebody once said that the background colour to these badges denoted either a serving or retired member?

Cheers

Dave

The cloth titles are very nice. All the cloth items seem to be scarce. Regards Andrew
