Default A few unknowns.

Dear All,
I attach photos of another batch of items that have eluded identification.
Photo 1 are 2 plaid brooches. Why is the Irish one gilded It's UDR. Who wore it and when see post below? The second is chrome with part of a Scottish capbadge in chrome bolted to the centre. Same who and when as above.
Centre overlay ID'd as part of an other ranks Highland Brigade cap badge, mounted on a plain quiot. May not be military
The next photo is unidentified cloth:
1. cloth cap badge? Guards with SEPTUM JUNCTA IN UNO?
2. embroidered shield, may be an old CCF arm badge, but who is "KRS"?
3. RAF - 611 (West Lancashire) Squadron RAuxAF
4. RAF - 2503 (County of Lincoln) Squadron RAuxAF Regiment

5. Possibly a US ROTC badge "W" or "M"?
6. Prince Alberts Volunteers - see post below
7. Black embroidered on black Bren Gunner for KAR - see post below
8. Odd parawings? Much larger than Brit ones. Why orange chute?

and the last 4, in metal:
9.brass PoW feathers with wire fixing on a possibly spurious green felt?
10. white metal PoW feathers, bought because I thought it was an arm badge, but even with such a large crown has eluded ID? May be Police badge for Cardiganshire Constabulary - any pictures available??
11 re-showing the SEAN title, did anybody ever ID it? State Enrolled Auxiliary Nurse apparently.
12. The 4/7 Dragoon Guards, but in a really thin stamping with blades. In an almost black finish, but initial look says NOT officers (too cheap) - any ideas?

Thanks for any ID's or ideas, but prob not going to sell them unless they're not British/US/my sphere.

Ian H

3. 611 (West Lancashire) Squadron RAuxAF. So I am told.
4. 2503 (County of Lincoln) Squadron RAuxAF Regiment. Not a version (shape) I have.
7. King's African Rifles, 1st & 2nd Bn.

Marc

Default Prince Albert Volunteers

No 6.
A cloth shoulder title from the Canadian regiment based in north Saskatchewan. 1912 saw the raising of a regiment which after many amalgamations & splits, part of which became the Prince Albert Volunteers in 1924. In 1936 they amalgamated again- another name change. Until 1941 when the PAV appeared again on their own. Amalgamated again in 1946, new name Prince Albert & Battleford Volunteers. Amalgamated again in 1954 to form part of the North Saskatchewan Regiment.
So this badge could come from 1924 to 36 OR 1941 to 46
No expert on backings, so someone else will have to pin the date down for you.

Default PA VOLS

Prince Alberts Volunteers? I'd not have got that one. I was convinced it was Artillery for some reason. Need to keep mind open. I have also just discovered one needs to be careful when putting Prince Alberts into search engines (NSFW).

Default UDR Brooch.

Ian the first one is Ulster Defence Regiment pipers brooch. The UDR wore gilt or gold A/A insignia. 1970-1992.

The brooch in your 1st and second pictures are Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. (I think). It looks similar in construction to other Canadian brooches I have. I sure I have picture someplace.

The plaid brooch looks like part of a Highland Brigade badge attached to a quoit. Definitely not Seaforth Highlanders of Canada.

No 6. Based on previous discussions in this forum, the backing indicates a post 1945 reproduction by the American firm, Patch King.

No 12. Looks like one from the series of anodized aluminum badges made for collectors by The Danbury Mint.

SEAN - State E... Auxiliary Nurse, maybe ?

Sorry if this one was already IDed.

Edit: Employed possibly. I was thinking along the lines of the SRN titles (State Registered Nurse)

Plaid brooch may be made up from Highland Brogade cap badge, noted.

No. 6 May well be a patch King, I don't know enough about the backing.

No. 12 Having checked the pictures of the Danbury Mint badges the 4/7 one in the top row frame 1 in picture 54 of Grey Green Acorns album is in silver anodised, whereas no.12 is in a dark bronze, almost black.

Well.....I have been PMed by another forum member with the ID of SEAN.

If you are interested it is State Enrolled Auxiliary Nurse.

Must resist collecting nurses bits - that way divorce lies.... Thanks for the info though, that bit's been in "to be ID'd box" for a very long time.
