Default Welsh not French

Hi Bill.

My guess is...
Welsh Rgt (formerly 41st & 69th) Officer's glengarry badge 1881-1901
qvc with the orb missing off the top of the crown.
Welsh (or Welch) specialists should help with scarcity.

Alan

If this is what they ask for a very dodgy copy:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VICTORIAN-...UAAOxyx0JTjfyA

then a genuine example would be scarce and valuable ( in my opinion ).

The spelling of the motto dates it. If you would kindly send me a couple of clear photos for front and back I can tell you when and value. In west Wales atm so will not be able to respond until next week sorry.

Hi Kevin, As indicated this is the best image I have at the moment. It may come into my possession, and if I secure it, I will contact you.
Thanks.

Bill,
If it's any help you'll find a photo of mine in my 41st (Welch) album.
Hwyl,
Kevin

Two better images of the 41st glengarry badge. It is a beautiful badge, and it is not damaged. The tip of the crown is slightly bent back, giving the appearance it was missing.
Kevin, I hope these images are better. I would appreciate your thoughts. (pm if you wish.)

Bill,

Sorry to take so long. Finally managed to get the relevant tray out for photos.

Here are my two officers' glengarry badges for the Welsh Reg't. Regular and Vol'r. both the same pattern garter scroll and central device, which as you will note are different from your example.

However, that is not an issue as I have genuine officers' helmet plates with both variants on, interestingly the Victorian crown example has the same garter scroll and central device as your example. The motto spelling on my Kings' crown example is the last and correct spelling version.

In my opinion the difference in the styles is just down to manufacturers.

Hwyl,

Kevin
