Default RNAS officer's cap badge

There clearly appears to be something very wrong with this badge. The eagle appears to be far too big for an RNAS badge. I suspect that the original anchor has been removed from a R.N. officer's cap badge and an RAF eagle added in its place.

Your thoughts would be welcome.

The leaves? are wrong for an RNAS and the eagle is too big and the backing to modern.
|A made up piece.

Simon,

thank you, luckily it doesn't belong to me. A friend bought it at a militaria fair yesterday and has clearly been caught out.

Yes, very clearly a common RN officers cap badge, which, sadly, has now been ruined by some complete and utter halfwit.
