Maple leaf Long Service Insignia

Hi Ray, I believe it is a long service device. It represented more than 10 years service but less than 12. Once the soldier had been awarded the CD, the long service stripes were to be removed.

Bill, I'm speaking of the Maple leaf on the khaki disc. I don't know how long service got into the heading. Is the maple leaf what you are refering to?

Hi Ray. After WW2 the Canadian reserves used the small chervons for years service. The colour was changed to silver. Each silver chevron was awarded for 2 years service, and there are silver chevron sets with one, two, three, four and five chevrons. That was for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 years service. The time between 10 years and the award of the CD was marked by the silver/gray embroidered maple leaf device.
