Default No Crown

Is this a rare badge or is the crown missing? http://cgi.ebay.ca/KK7-vintage-CANAD...1%7C240%3A1318

Broken badge. The base of the crown (KC or QC) should rest between the arrowheads. The arrowheads look a little bent too, flattened out too, looks like the rough edges may have been smoothed out.

Some years back, I saw a QC RCAC badge for sale on ebay with a reattached/repaired crown. The seller had a story about how some of these KC badges had the crown removed and artfully replaced with QC's by the manufacturer. Urban myth?? I didn't find the story plausible since doing that type of repair seems way more trouble than it is worth? This isn't a very large cap badge to begin with and the crown is quite small!? I would think it would be far easier to make new dies and strike new badges.
