No thanks Mike, both sets have plain backed buttons so one is fine for me.

It does seem a shame that such a nice tunic was cut up though.

Three general service KC brass buttons.
backmarks:
J. & B. Pearse & Co, London
G. Edmonds, Birmingham
Heaton & Taylor Ltd, Birmingham

The Heaton & Taylor Ltd button has already been listed by Tinto.
Pearse is well known, but I have no details on G. Edmonds

Images of 3 more general service KC buttons added:

Joseph Steer, Birmingham
Harcourts Ltd, Birmingham
Hobson & Sons, London (small size)

Joseph Steer, Weaman Street, Birmingham had a patent registered in 1853.

A 1926 advertisement was sold on ebay:
The "Twinhinge" a new hinged stair eye with a novel method of fastening. No spring or turnbutton is used.
Full particulars on application to leading factors or to the manufacturer.

Here is another General Service KC brass button backmark:

C.G. Southcott Co-Partnership Ltd., Leeds

The company was incorporated 19-1-1920 and the West Yorkshire Archive Service holds a collection of records dating from 1911 until 1980.
They were wholesale clothiers.
