Default WW1 19th Hussars - Silver Tobacco Tin

I thought I'd share this rather nice and poignant item. It's a hallmarked silver (London 1915) tobacco tin - inscribed Capt J Berrow 19th Hussars from JHT 7.8.16. I bought it on a whim some years ago - and wanted to know if the officer in question survived the war. Indeed he did and he had a really interesting history with the Regt. He was present at the Siege of Ladysmith in 1899 and was listed as Lieut. and Quarter Master in 1908. Not sure about his service with the Regt in WW1 but he rec'd an OBE for his services during that period and he died having been made Major in 1932.

If anyone has any further information on the officer I would love to see it - the information that I do have came from the Regimental Museum.

Tim
