Default Army Remounts Service

Hello all,

I picked up a couple of new badges at a fair this morning & I'd appreciate your opinions - fair or fake?

I've got 3 pictures of each & post the Remounts badge here & the other badge in another thread.

Cheers

It's a fake sorry, the makers mark is spurious.

Ok thanks. Is that always the case with this maker or are there some instances where it's good?

It is a legit makers mark, but like a lot of things in this hobby it has been faked.

Here is a good one for reference.

The maker is genuine enough, however in this case the faker has not only faked the badge but also the MM.

See here

There are subtle differences, namely the underlining of the smaller letters and the spacing!

The original badges were die cast with smooth backs less a small dimple.

I think the maker's mark is 'Bodill Parker', Andy. 'Spurious' never made badges . . . well . . . leastways, not badges with 'slidders'

Default A Few More

Resurrecting this old thread here are a couple more fake makers marks found on this totally fake badge.

So as well as BP & CO LD. B’HAM it’s also available in LAMBOURNE & CO BIRMINGHAM and J.W. TIPTAFT & SONS LTD BIRMINGHAM

Hopefully of use to members as a reference for spotting the fake marks.

Cheers,
Luke
