Hi Andrew,

My suspicion is that they are fake and/or fantasy. There was a thread about this style of patch with some known fakes.

In my mind it is, or at the very least suspicious.

I can’t identify the signs in the opening post but here are some more fakes for comparison. Sometimes the white fabric is found stained with tea to simulate age!

I really can not believe the amount of fake patches out there,

Why would anyone bother buying them?

Andrew, the answer is yes, there are unlimited numbers of fakes available for the unsuspecting and/or unknowing. I also suspect that I am not the only one who has bought fakes without knowing it.

This is one big reason for me that this forum and it's members are such a blessing to me! I have learned so much and never enjoyed he hobby more!

Hi Terry,

Thanks, but i can not understand why anyone would print fantasy military patches of units that never existed, or there was never such an approved design

i can understand the reasoning why copying exact genuines to pass off as fakes or replicas

Maybe i am in the wrong business and should start screen printing

And some that didn't exist as cloth signs are based on formation signs that were painted on vehicles, like the kangaroo and boomerang one I posted, copied from a illustration in one of Howard Coles' books.

The kangaroo and boomerang entry in "Heraldry of War":
