East Anglian Regt FS caps & badges
At a recent auction a Lot was offered including a bullion & white metal version of the 1st East Anglian collar badge. It was slightly larger than the collar badge, and was described as an 'Officer's Regimental FS Cap' badge. A poor scan of said badge is attached.
This got me wondering a) What coloured FS caps were worn by the three East Anglian Regiments? b) Was the badge pictured worn as described or did it have an alternative use? Can anyone offer suggestions please? Stephen.

Hi, it’s a Suffolk collar with a anodised britt. In the middle, taken from an anodised collar badge. Castle might be a Suffolk mess dress.

I know for a fact that they wore berets (see photo 1st East Anglia Brigade, circa 1959 below). 1 EA.jpg JT Last edited by Jelly Terror; 19-06-18 at 11:35 AM. |

Well the badge in itself as it presents, is the correct pattern for the 1st Bn collar badge (in facing pairs). later the 1st Bn The Royal Anglian Regt and is indeed an amalgamation of the collar badges from the Norfolk and Suffolk Regts as we know. I know nothing about bullion badges, so cant comment further if the badge is 'right'.
However, the anodised collar badge in this pattern is all one piece, so I'm not sure how you would extract the silver Britannia from that with the detail shown above (unless we know this for sure I guess). So the Britannia in metal must be bespoke made for this badge OR perhaps taken from an officers metal collar badge of the 1st Bn pattern if it is in fact two parts, but I have no idea if they are. There is of course an anodised Norfolk collar badge, but I would think that a little big for this image and in any case it is gold coloured. Happy to be corrected chaps. Churchills doesn't shed much light unfortunately. Interesting. Regards all Bess What size is this badges dimensions? it may assist. Last edited by bess55; 19-06-18 at 09:22 AM. Reason: speling |

At best, it’s a marriage of two parts, most likely done at the time , by a officer or ex officer for some reason, which we can only guess. But if anyone has a Suffolk collar like the one in this thread, would they please post a photo with some sizes as well. Thanks

Andrew,
Can you cite the source of this photo and perhaps also provide a date of issue/wear? With thanks, JT |

Hi, photo and badges taken from an eBay listing, the badge could have been worn, by anyone, sometime after officers collars of this pattern. Nice looking badge, but a marriage of two bits at the end of the day, and I guess by an ex officer.
