Default Scottish and unidentified

The thistle (with two wire loops) looks similar to the central motif of the First World War 9th (Scottish) Division sign, but what's the tartan? Were the two items worn together or just joined as a post-War souvenir? It's been in my Unidentified file for decades! Mike

Mike,

I think thats Royal Stuart tartan and was worn by Scots Guards pipers, Royal Scots pipers, KOSB pipers, Black watch Pipers, Glasgow Highlanders, 4/5 Bn.s Seaforths and Tyneside Scottish Pipers, but never with just a thistle.

i think its the badge you think it is just pinned on a tartan square.

regards

Simon,
Thanks. Probably just one item pinned to another as a souvenir.
Mike
