Default Australian cadet unit insignia?

Can anone assist me in identifying these two items which I am told are Australian cadet items?

The enamel badge has no maker's mark but has two lugs (N&S) fitted with the short Australian style split pins. The motto reads @'VIRTUS SOLA NOBILITAS'.

The cloth title reads 'BDR' and is of 'Cash Tape' style woven manufacture.

Also, are there any good references for Australian cadet insignia (I have copies of Cossum's books)

Thanks, Stephen.

Hi Stephen,

I think that could be a school cadet badge from Victoria but I will need to dig through my files to confirm.

There is also no reference book on Australian cadet badges - feel like writing one?

Mick

Default AUSTRALIAN CADET UNIT INSIGNIA

Gentlemen,
Thank you for you help thus far. Mick, as for writing a book- perhaps one day. Having an Australian wife I'm bound to emigrate in the next few years so perhaps it will be a project to keep me out of the sun (and the bar).

Hopefully someone will identify the tape.

Regards, Stephen.

As one who attended this school for a short period this badge was worn by cadets to the rank of Staff Sgt on hat khaki fur felt. The CUOs and WOs wore a gilt version (without the enamelling)!

WOW... that's great information. I wish someone would compile all of this info into a Cadet Reference Work.

No, don't ask me... I have two others to finish.

Regards

Mark
