Default 1950's Dress Blues Hat

Hello Gents,

A little outside my collecting field but I thought I'd share this very nice 1950's Dress Blues Cap. The hat is made by J. Compton Sons & Webb, London and you can see the nice early Kings Crown Infantry Hat Badge. Interestingly, the hat badge has had the lugs removed and a long straight pin attached so the badge neatly fits on the front of the cap.

Altogether a lovely piece.

Paul

In 1959-60 I was attached to 42 Fld regt RA and we were issued the new number 2 dress and that included a hat of the same shape as that shown but in the same material as the uniform , later , but I can't remember when exactly , these were withdrawn and we were issued the coloured caps , the one shown looks very much like the Caps, Royals that were issued to the REME , RA and several other corps.Excuse inaccuracies in dates but it was a long time ago.

Thanks for your reply and interesting comment re: the hat.

I don't know much about this hat as it's way outside my collecting field, but it certainly could have been worn by RA Regiments etc.

Maybe someone else can shed some light on this cap?

Thanks

Paul
