Default Help needed to ID Commando?? insignia.

This one belongs to a friend who would dearly love to find out more about it.

[QUOTE] I do know however it is from the Middle East as the chap who brought it home was a 'Rat of Tobruk'

Any help with its identity would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Brent

Default 50 Commando badge

I took off a print of your badge and took it to the MHS meeting in Dorchester today. I showed it to two members who have extensive knowledge of cloth badges and they both said that they had never seen such a badge illustrated anywhere, but that did not mean that no such badge was worn. Bearing in mind that this Commando unit was serving in the middle east it is perfectly possible that they had a local tailor make up these badges as did many other units. John.

When i 1st saw the badge i thought of the doormouse in "some talk of Private armies" in Len Whittakers book. This was for the special Companies of the Home Guard. i think i'll agree with blackpowder with his comment!
