I thought it looked correct for the 2nd wartime version?

I was not aware that there was a second wartime version. The coloured designation (with yellow thread) was unofficially worn until approved and sealed in 1952 in the same colours. In 1955 it was resealed with green thread replacing the yellow, corresponding ACF designations were also introduced in 1953 and 1955.

Thanks to Marc and Jerry for their comments regarding the Border title. I am posting a better picture. This photo makes the background purple look more blue from some reason, however in hand it is definately purple.
I have looked through older threads but could not come to a concensus on what was period WW2 or later. would like to here opinions. Best Jack

Jack,
It is the version that some consider to be the 2nd WWII version. Certainly no problem with it being an original, just the dating is in dispute. I have one the same which Luc considers to be WWII, others do not think so. see post #2 http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ghlight=Border and post #12 is more conclusive http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ghlight=Border

Jerry, it appears that one of the main differences in the title I have posted and the title everyone feels is WW2 is the connecting thread that runs between each letter. Which would indicate to me a machine made piece. Not sure if the first title posted by Luc as the agreed upon WW2 title is hand done or also machine made using a different process as it exhibits no connecting thread.
Thanks Jack

Further to the identification of the red/blue "M" as 110 Fd Regt RA, the attached may be of interest. Mike

apart from the uncertainty on the dating, IMO it is a good original badge and well worth having. I'd certainly be happy to have another in my collection to make a pair and pay post war prices for it.

Best Jack From the bigger image it looks like a good post 1955 version. Marc
