CSM/WO11/RSM Badge.
Hello everyone.
I would like to ask Forum members for help with determining what hat/cap or beret badge a CSM/WO11 and temporary RSM would have worn during WW2 within the Royal Norfolk Regiment. I assume that it was possibly just a brass Britannia? Or would it have been something more exotic. Kind regards, Malcolm. |

I made enquiries on the forum a few years ago concerning the badge that would have been worn on the Forage Cap by a Royal Norfolk Regiment WOI during the late 1930's , (commissioned 1939) and was advised it would have been a silver Britania badge with a slider fitting.

Hello Leigh.
Many thanks for the reply and interesting links. Also what do you think a Norfolk Warrant Officer would have worn “in the field” during WW2. Kind regards, Malcolm. |

Presumably an OSD Britannia for WOI, perhaps brass for WOII? I'm sure one of the Royal Norfolk Regiment gurus will give a proper answer.
As an aside, I always think of this badge whenever Royal Norfolks officer's cap badges are mentioned: https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30080928 |

Norfolk WO
Hi if the rank was temporary likely his original gilding metal brass Britannia possibly he’d have been issued an OSD ‘bronze’ Britannia.

Thanks everyone. Greatly appreciate the help. It has been pointed out to me that photos exist in the regimental journals that show WO1 and RSM wearing the bronze OSD as shown above.
Kind regards, Malcolm. |
