Myold dad, God rest his soul, was an RSM Royal Marines, and that photo bears out exactly what he drummed into me as a kid as he insisted the Royal Marines were (quote) "Smarter than the Guards, but shorter".

That is not meant as a knock against the Royal Marines, I grew up with the ambition to be one, but one look at the gig lamps I wore was enough for them to tell me to s@d off, and of course they were right.

Thanks for posting that photo, I got some old Royal Marine photo's too.

hello Ritchie after you put me on to that book I took it to show my uncle he give me some photos as above there are more to come when he can lay his hands on them he also passed on this paperwork
