Default Royal Marines badge

I picked this up this morning thinking that it was possibly an incomplete helmet plate. Now I am not so sure. This would originally have had thee lugs but two are missing. Can anyone tell me what exactly it is please?

It's a Royal Marines pouch badge and a good one (IMHO), there are a lot of copies but yours looks good albeit damaged. The RM Bands wear a QC version on their pouches these days. A complete one (with and without strengthening pieces) pictured below and a 18ct gold plated one as used by the RM Bands.

Paddy,

thank you for the information. I had never seen one before and recognised the motto as being Royal Marines but wasn't sure if the badge was complete.

If you will excuse my ignorance can you please tell me exactly what a pouch badge is and who would have worn them? I am guessing that it was worn as part of the dress uniform on an ammunition pouch.

Simon
