Default Royal Marine Lanyard

I bought this on Ebay hoping it would be suitable for a WW2 RA uniform, but its a bit shiny and it would be a shame to remove the labels so I am going to move it on.

But before I do does "RM" stand for Royal Marines? and does the shiny finish mean it contains a modern fabrik like Nylon.

Please note under the BCMBF code of conduct I am obliged to point out that I may profit from any information you supply

Rob

My eyesight is too poor to be able to read what is on the labels, but if it is any help my late father, RSM Royal Marines, wore a white lanyard round left shoulder during WW2 with the end tucked into left breast pocket. I am very clear in my mind about that as he took it off and gave it to me in 1944 when I needed a white lanyard for my Scout uniform.

Cheers,
john G

Thanks for the replies John and Phil.

Phil yours has the same spec number but doesn't mention "RM", does that mean by 1992 this had become more general issue?

Rob.

Hi Rob,

I honestly don't know. I got my info from Marc (54bty), he didn't mention any other units at the time.

I have two sample cards both with different dates but the same lanyard type attached, 1991 & 1992.

I will keep an eye out for your one if you resell it

Cheers,

Phil

Hi Phil

You can have it for what it cost me if you like, £6.89 plus a large letter stamp.

PM if you are interested.
