Default Know Your Cyphers

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/WW1-CEF-ORs-C...QAAOSwGBtZYpDL

An appalling lack of knowledge regarding 87th Battlion vs 245 Battalion and the difference between King George V and King George VI cyphers on this badge.
It is simply a Canadian Grenadier Guards cap badge - 1930s to 1950s.

Well, if we make it CEF era... it is worth a lot more. Typical kc badge is $5 ish.
(Note: It was quite awhile after Elizabeth's coronation before the Cdn Gren Gds acquired an ERII cypher badge.)

It begs the question, ignorant, or dishonest?

I know the seller, he is neither ignorant or dishonest, just a simple mistake.

Goes beyond a simple mistake. The cyphers have been discussed previously in this forum.

The vendor needs to correct the description as it certainly isn't a CEF cap badge.
Given the resources available, there's no excuse for an incorrect listing for this badge.

In another listing, the same vendor shows that they don't understand what a hallmark is.

I informed the vendor of his error.
He posted the exchange in the Q & A on the listing.

Q: Why are you selling a King George VI era cap badge as a First World War badge. The cypher is clearly King George VI, not King George V.
A: On closer inspection you are correct It will be rectified shortly. Thanks Adrian

The vendor didn't change the listing.
I rest my case.
