Royal Engineer's Badge fake?
Just wanted to ask you guys and anyone with the knowledge to help me figure out if my Royal Engineer's badge is a fake or not. I am about 60% sure that it is but I cannot be certain and want a second opinion! Cheers!

Badge looks like one that I have that came direct from a house clearance with medals... I'd be happy with it at first glance.

Sorry to disagree but I don't actually like this badge. Casting looks too heavy, slider looks too short and rear definition doesn't look as crisp as I would expect it to.

I'd be happy with it as well.
Is there really a demand for fake RE cap badges? There must be thousands of real examples. Jon |

Having viewed the photographs again, I stick with my original assessment, still don't like it, very poor quality casting/stamping. Only having the badge in hand would confirm either way

This particular badge shows none of the signs of the more obvious copies. The strength of the RE at the end of the war was around 280.000, according to George Forty's British Army Handbook, surely not all their badges were of superb quality.
