Default RACD 49th West Riding Division

A couple of questions regarding the RACD Title and Formation sign. I take it the Formation sign is for the 49th West Riding Division? I would like to know the date of their manufacture and originality. Also would it be correct for only one Formation sign to be worn on the right sleeve and none on the left? Many thanks, Clive.

Without seeing the date of manufacture of the BD blouse I would date these as late 1950s/early 1960s. The bear is a pretty badly made example - inferior to the late WW2 made examples in my collection. The title was worn in that style and format in 1959. It's difficult to be more precise. There should be mirror image bear on the left sleeve.

Thanks for that Mike, spot-on with dates. The BD Jacket is dated 1954 and the Trousers dated 1955. Both are 1949 Pattern. Can not see evidence of another Formation sign on the left sleeve. I may be selling this set on eBay soon and just wanted to check if the Insignias were earlier and worth removing or not. I will leave it as it is. Regards, Clive.

Is it still considered acceptable to strip uniforms of their insignia in this day and age?

I thought this no longer happened unless the uniform was badly mothed or otherwise beyond saving. None of my business really, it is up to you, it is your uniform after all and not intending to give you a hard time, I am just asking.

I see you have listed it on ebay, if it had been in a few weeks time I would have bid on it, it's just I have spent my budget for this month already.
