Default senior pipe major

Just caught the end of the Edinburgh Tattoo.
The lone piper was from 4Scots (Hldrs). He appeared to be wearing single large elephant collars rather than RRS collars.

Also noticed pipes and drums from the RDG,the pipers in saffron kilts and drummers in dragoons full dress.

hi mike, the pipers in saffron kilts with red/white hackles were QRH, and although I know that previously the RDG pipers wore tartan kilts and highland headdress I didn't see them tonight. must watch it again on BBC I player as I might of missed them, agree with the drum side being dragoon guards and bass drummer (white bearskin) RSDG. regards john

Hi John, it was the pipe banners that i saw. I couldnt see cap badges, they may well have been Irish Guards. Then seeing the red tunic and dragoon guards helmet made me think RDG.

Default RDG PIPE MAJOR

hi mike, well please accept my apologies, ijust put it on I player where you can stop/start/rewind etc, and at 2.18 there is def an RDG pipe major in irish pipers dress with saffron kilt you can see his badges quite clearly on pause. then at 2.55 you can see a QRH pipers horse collar badges and like I said earlier red/white hackle. now I've got the cd of the RDG pipes and drums in which they are all wearing spats horsehair sporrans tartan kilts etc FULL SCOTTISH PIPERS KIT, and now tonight they are in saffron kilts purse sporrans etc FULL IRISH PIPERS KIT well I never thought I'd see that happening ever. and just to confuse you there are also ROYAL IRISH REGIMENT pipers in there too (big silver angel harp badge)regards john

I spotted them straight away. I can see an Irish piper, especially an Irish Hussar piper, from a long way away.

According to the official programme the following military Pipes & Drums take part in this year's Tattoo:
- The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
- The Royal Dragoon Guards
- The Queen's Royal Hussars (Queen's Own and Royal Irish)
- The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland
- The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland
- The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland
- The Highlanders, 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland
- 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment
- The Royal Army of Oman
There were also some civilian Pipe Bands.
I don't know if the piper and drummer in Navy uniform were members of the Royal Navy or just dressed in Navy uniform for the show.
