Hello Eric,
That is very interesting, I am in touch with Tom Savage who was with both the Liverpool Irish and Lancashire Artillery Volunteers Pipes and Drums, do you remember him. I have recently acquired some uniforms to the LAV pipes and drums and am trying to complete a Pipe Majors uniform, picture attached. I dont suppose you have any pictures of the Liverpool Irish Pipes and Drums do you ? I was told that after 1967 all the Pipers and Drummers uniforms were put in a pile behind the Aigburth Road drill hall and burnt. Peter

Pipe Majors
Eric and Peter,
It may have been one of my posts that you have seen. I have the following Pipe Majors of the 1st Bn Liverpool Scottish since 1946 to disbandment in 1967: 1946-1947 Stoddart, George (b. 1912 Leith, d. 1990 Edinburgh) around 1950 Gardner, William B. 1953-1961 Daley, Samuel 1962-1967 MacRae, Evan (b. 1925 Black Isle, d. 1992?) For the 103rd (Lancasshire Artillery Volunteers) Regiment I have Joe Massey as P/M from 1967. I have no information about Pipe Majors of the 470 LAA Regiment; you mention Joe Morrisey and Frank Murray, when would they have been P/M? Please let me know if you have any additional information. Thanks and regards Aad |

Thanks Eric,
What a pity that there is not a complete Liverpool Irish Pipers uniform that could be displayed at the new Liverpool Museum.( I wonder where that saffron kilt is now ) Peter

Hi, for the purpose of myself and my nan - I was wondering if you would know where I could find more information about Pipe Major Samuel Daley, 1st Bn Liverpool Scottish, as this is one of our relatives. Many thanks, Danny. |

Danny,
I am sure the Liverpool Scottish Museum ( which sadly is now a virtual museum ) would be able to help. Here is a link: http://www.liverpoolscottish.org.uk/ P.B.
