15th Scottish Reconnaissance Corps cap badge
Hello,
I would be glad to know your opinions about this cap badge for the 15th Scottish Reconnaissance Corps. It is mint and I'ld guess this is a reproduction or a cap badge made for veteran's reunions? Does someone have one original to show? Thanks for any help. J-F

similar badge
Hello J-f, I am watching this thread with great interest as I have a similar badge. Mine came with a red backing cloth which does look old. Looking forward to any thoughts.

I had one of these a few years back as a gap filler as it was fake/copy/repro etc so my belief is that it is no good. I stand to be corrected.

I would say this is a repro, if you compare the shaft of the arrow above and below the scroll, you can see it is much wider above the scroll.
It looks very much like the ones ebay seller greybear was selling. Albert.

I think this one is a copy but I believe there are real ones out there somewhere. Car Commander has some officers collars in his album of recce items.

Thank you all for your comments, I bought this cap badge as a gap filler to "Greybear" but two friends of me told they have the same cap badge in their collections and are confident it is an original item. It is not my opinion and after reading your comments I am now sure it is a reproduction. I took a look at the pattern showed in the K&K book page 17, the lion seems to be slighly different, it has not exactly the same head and its feet seem also a bit different. I don't know but I would think the original pattern of this cap badge is made in silver and not chromed . J-F

This link shows an original in the poccession of a veteran who has since died.
He insisted that this was the one that was issued to him. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...5365#post35365 |

Thanks a lot for the link, the cap badge showed is the same than the one showed page 17 in the K&K V2 and it confirms that original cap badges were silver plated and not chromed. In addition you can see that the lion is also a bit different on the original. J-F

This is a lovely silver example from ebay.
Seller greybear has no original insignia, I assume this is a known fact? |
