Default 4th/7th Dragoon Guards, India, 1927

4th/7th Dragoon Guards, India, 1927 - An interesting hackle on the side of the FSH and possibly some sort of badge on the front?

and another - note the 5th collars rather than the 6th Inninskilling's castle. The regiment went to the UK in 1929 so it predates that.

Very interesting photo. I would guess the hackle to be black and white, black being the facing color. There is some sort of small badge on the front of the helmets. Giving they appear rather hastily applied and nondescript, could it be some kind of maneuvers insignia?
They certainly look hot and fatigued!

It’s not a feather plume, but made from hair like a shaving brush. The colours are black and white, the traditional combination of the old 7th Dragoon Guards. The cap badge a star type of regimental pattern. Note the dark blue puttees.
