RAF Regiment training
Hi all
Is there anyone on here who is, or was, RAF Regiment in the last 10 years and can help me with information about cap discs and shoulder slides worn during training. Examples shown in attachment. Dave |

I know nothing re. RAF training, but are these coloured backings not worn by all RAF in basic training to indicate what squad or flight or whatever they're in?

Hi Leigh
Yes these were and are used by many RAF Formations to indicate trade, squad, flight etc. I am compiling a booklet re these items and their usage and this time specifically the ones used by the RAF Regiment, hence the post. Dave |

Hi Jerry
Thanks for your comments but, the page you show is from my book that I am compiling. I know about all the disc colours and most of their uses. I am really only asking for information relating to their wear by the RAF Regiment during their training at the Regiment Training Squadron at RAF Honington, that is why I asked if there were any Regiment members on this site. It might be worthwhile writing to the RAF Regt. Heritage Centre at Honington. It’s a superb museum containing a great collection of items pertaining to the “Regiment’s” history. I last visited there over three years ago. Afraid I cannot help you personally as I turned my gear in and got all my “chits” signed in October 1961! Best regards, David J. Ex 37 Sqn. In On. Canada.
